Kashmir Magazine

The killing of Kashmir migrant pandit employee in Budgam district on Thursday inside a tehsil office evoked massive condemnation and protests across Jammu and Kashmir, denouncing the killings of innocent people in the UT at the hands of militants.

This is for the first time that people from all walks of life in Jammu and Kashmir unequivocally condemned the innocent killings, stating that this was unacceptable in a civilised society.

People all across J&K held candle light marches and held massive protest demonstrations against the killings of KP employee Rahul Bhat inside tehsil office Chadoora.

The protestors condemned the killing and stated that such killings in the Valley have a potential to derail atmosphere of peace and brotherhood between the two communities.

The protestors were not only held by minority community—i.e, Kashmiri Migrant Pandits, but they were also joined by Muslim Majority community of Jammu and Kashmir, giving a clear message that violence has now no place in any civilised society.

Protests and candle light marches by Muslim majority community in solidarity with their migrant pandit brethren is what Jammu and Kashmir has been known for—it has been known for social ethos, brotherhood and communal harmony.

And such unequivocal condemnation and protest march by the people of J&K is a clear message to those who are hell-bent to derail the atmosphere of peace and communal harmony in Jammu and Kashmir and it also gives a hope that brotherhood between two communities cannot get affected by any means.

The killing was also unequivocally condemned by politicians cutting across political parties and demanded justice for the family.
