The campaign for road safety started in connection with the 29th National Road Safety Week concluded on April 30 in district Baramulla. During the road safety week the district transport authority held awareness programs throughout the district but this year more awareness programs attended by people of all shades including transport community, students and commuters were conducted in rural areas of the district.
Deputy Commissioner Baramulla Dr Nasir Naqash along with ARTO Baramulla Noor Ud Din Andrabi inaugurated the traffic awareness week on April 23 in presence of Additional Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, Assistant Commissioner (Revenue) Baramulla, Chief Medical Officer Baramulla Dy S P Traffice Rural North, Chief Education Officer Baramulla and other senior officers of the district administration. The slogans “SADAK SURAKHSHA JEEVAN RAKHSHA” popularized through print and electronic media besides distribution of Pamphets among the participants in the awareness programs. A Walkathon rally was organized at Bus Stand Baramulla to aware the general public about the importance of road safety during the road safety awareness week.
The ARTO Baramulla Noor Ud Din Andrabi in collaboration with Block Medical Officer Sopore on April 24 conducted an Opthalmology cum general medical camp for commercial drivers of the Western Bus Stand Sopore, Graduate Mini Bus Association Sopore, Mini Bus Association Rafiabad, Sumo Stand No:01 Sopore, Delhi Public School Delina , Sanctorium Institute of Education Lalad Sopore, Shah Rasool Memorial Welkin Educational Trust Sopore, Minii Bus Association Zaingeer and Sumo Stand No 2 Dak Bugalow Sopore.
ARTO Baramulla conducted On-Road Awareness program for commuters on April 25 on Baramulla-Kupwara National Highly at Ladoora, Tragpora, Watergam and Rohama. On road physical, mechanical inspection of vehicles was held in collaboration with Peace Driving Institute Tragpora. Vehicles were checked for cleanliness as well as M.Oil level, Air Filter, Fan belts, head lights, side indicators, pollution, braking system and steering system. A painting competition on the theme “SADAK SURAKHSHA JEEVAN RAKHSHA” was organized by ARTO Baramulla in collaboration with Sanctorium Institute of Education Sopore. Regional Transport Officer Khursheed Ahmad Shah presided over an awareness program cum Talk show held in collaboration with Kashmir Road Safety Foundation an NGO. After the talk show awareness tips were imparted among the participant by RTO Kashmir, ARTO Baramulla and Dy SP Traffic Baramulla/ Kupwara. In the end school children distribute pamphlets, caps and T Shirts on behalf of the RTO Kashmir among the commuters on Sopore-Kupwara road.
ARTO Baramulla in collaboration with Sanctorium Institute of Education on April 26 organized painting competition on the them “SADAK SURAKHSHA JEEVAN RAKHSHA”. During the program presided over by RTO Kashmir Khursheed Ahmad Shah documentaries were screened on accidents and their aftermath, rise of fertility rate caused by the misadventures exhibited on the road by drivers and riders in collaboration with Kashmir Road Safety Foundation an NGO.
Deputy Commissioner Baramulla alongwith ARTO Baramulla on April 30 flagged off a helmet rally organized by the district transport authorities in collaboration with ZMR Automobiles Delina. A similar program was also organized in Pattan.
ARTO Baramulla conducted an awareness program on April 27 at Main Stand Baramulla for the commercial drivers of Western Bus Stand Baramulla, Janbaz Mini Bus Stand Baramulla , Baramulla Taxi Owner Union Baramulla, Sumo Stand Kariyapa Park Baramulla,Eicher Mini Bus Stand Baramulla and Graduate Mini Bus Association Sopore. A question answer session was by ARTO Baramulla was followed by a medical camp (ophthalmology) at Main Bus Stand Baramulla.
ARTO Baramulla conducted an awareness program on April 28 at Govt Higher Secondary School Kreeri for students, general public and commercial drivers pertaining to Gazi Babul Sumo Stand Kreeri, Al-Murad Mini Bus Association Kreeri and non commercial drivers of the area in collaboration with Kashmir Road Safety Foundation an NGO.
