Insha Wadoo, a young girl from Srinagar’s downtown area is aspiring to become a Marathon player has rued official apathy over supporting her to achieve her goal.

Insha Wadoo, resident of Rainawari Srinagar has started here journey in the year 2009 when she was in class 8 with an aim to become physically and mentally fit.Downtown girl

Saying that the girls in her area are not being allowed to be a part of this sport, Insha says she managed to go for practice every day. “Besides my family, nobody is supporting me in this field from past 10 years. I approached to the officials for their support but unfortunately all in vain,” she says.

Insha was recently Guest of Honor in Punjab where former Indian cricketer and former MP, Navjot Singh Sidhu awarded her Rs one lakh while a noble foundation Ludhiana chairman awarded her Rs 31, 000 cash.

The downtown girl every day visits her nearby garden, known as Badawari for practice. “I run daily 10 Kilometres while on Sundays I run at least 20-25 kilometres to make myself physically fit for the marathon, which is my only dream,” says Insha.
