Skilling J&K youth

The inauguration of Rs 181.57 crore state of the art Centre for Invention, Innovation, Incubation and Training (CIIITs) skill development centre at Baramulla inaugurated by Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha will go a long way in imparting quality technical skill to youth in Jammu and Kashmir. The step initiated by the UT government has added another milestone in the history of J&K. Government has also decided to establish one such centre in Jammu. There are hundreds of Engineering Colleges, Polytechnic Colleges and ITIs pass outs who are not employable due to lack of proper skills. This has been a main reason for rising unemployment in J&K. This has led to diversion of youth energy and increasing the resentment against the administration. It will also enhance the career skills. In the changing global and national scenario where the emphasis of Government is Atiminirbar, the skill enhancement is necessary to achieve the desired economic targets. Government has said that Centre for Invention, Innovation, Incubation and Training (CIIITs) will not only focus on innovative design, entrepreneurship development but will also enhance the employability rate amongst the youth, while strengthening Industry-Academic partnership. It will provide modern engineering tools required for product design, development and manufacturing. Another area is Information Technology enabled Services which has a huge potential to create employment for the youth in UT. Recently BSE, Asia’s oldest stock exchange signed four MoUs with Mission Youth, Government of J&K to spread financial awareness, support economic development, and encourage sustainable livelihood in the Union Territory. All these steps are in right direction to create a stable employment opportunities for the youth.
