Managing Director, Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL) said that supply of electricity in Kashmir division will be improved further in coming months. He said that providing adequate power supply to consumers will remain among his top priorities.
“During last 2 to 3 years a major change took place in supply and demand of electricity. The supply was much improved in these years. However in times to come the electricity supply will be improved further,” MD, KPDCL Baseer-ul-Haq Chowdhary said.
Baseer-ul-Haq Chowdhary IAS, (AGMUT:2015) was Deputy Commissioner Pulwama and has been transferred and posted as Managing Director, Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited, J&K.
During an exclusive conversation with The Kashmir Magazine, Chowdhary said that the installation of smart meters is a major challenge for the department as all services required for life are being availed through electricity. “I appeal consumers abroad to reserve some pocket money for paying smart meter bills. As we know everything is linked with electricity, even we cannot charge our mobile batteries without electricity,” he said.
He added as Annual Amarnath Yatra 2023 is scheduled to be started from July 1st, the KPDCL is effectively busy in making foolproof arrangements of electricity areas enroute to the Yatra. “The arrangements are being given final touch and the situation is being monitored keenly,” MD KPDCL said.
He added the KPDCL will work on neglected areas to ensure adequate power supply to these areas. “There are many areas who have been neglected from last 33 years like Gurez, tail end of Kupwara, etc. We will prioritize these areas and will improve electricity there, he added.
