Nazim Nazeer from Pulwama who is a beekeeper described his journey to the PM about expanding his business by availing benefits from the government where he bought 25 boxes for beekeeping at a 50 percent subsidy.
He also threw light on his economic growth throughout the journey where he gradually expanded to 200 boxes for beekeeping by availing Rs 5 lakh under PM’s Employment Generation Programme.
This led to Nazeer building a brand for himself and creating a website that further generated thousands of orders worth about 5000 kg across the country, growing his business to almost 2000 beekeeping boxes and engaging about 100 youth from the region.
He told the PM about receiving an FPO in 2023 which helped him grow his business.
Nazeer also thanked him for launching the Digital India initiative that has transformed the Fintech landscape in the country.
PM Modi lauded Nazeer’s effort for leading the way to a sweet revolution in J&K and congratulated him on his success.
Upon the PM’s enquiry about getting initial support from the government to establish the business, Nazeer said that even though he faced initial difficulty, the Department of Agriculture came forward and supported his cause.
Noting that the business of beekeeping was a fairly new sector, PM Modi highlighted its benefits and said that bees, in a way, work like farm labourers making it beneficial for crops.
Nazeer said that landowners were ready to offer land for beekeeping at no cost as the process was also beneficial for the farmers.
The PM suggested Nazeer research the honey produced in Central Asia around the Hindu Kush Mountains and also asked him to look towards crafting a new taste for honey by growing specific flowers around the boxes as it has a niche market.
He also mentioned similar successful efforts in Uttarakhand.
PM Modi expressed delight at Acacia Honey’s price going up to Rs 1000 per kg from Rs 400 per kg due to high demand across the world.
He lauded the clarity of thought and vision, and the courage shown by Nazeer in running his business and also congratulated his parents.
The PM said that Nazeer was also giving direction to the youth of India and becoming an inspiration.
Ahtesham Majid Bhat of Srinagar is a bakery entrepreneur who through a food technology skill development programme brought in innovations in the bakery.
She was supported by the incubation centre at Government Polytechnic for Women Skill Development. The government’s single window system helped her and her team in getting all the NoCs from various departments.
PM Modi told her that in the last 10 years, the government had been providing all the support to the crores of youth in realising their startup dreams.
He praised her for involving her friends from different districts in her entrepreneurial ventures.

HADP is an integrated programme encompassing the full spectrum of activities in the three major domains of agri-economy – horticulture, agriculture, and livestock husbandry in J&K.
The programme would equip about 2.5 lakh farmers with skill development via a dedicated Daksh Kisan portal.
Under the programme, about 2000 Kisan Khidmat Ghars would be established and robust value chains would be put in place for the welfare of the farming community.
The programme would lead to employment generation benefiting lakhs of marginal families in J&K.

The 42 destinations have been identified in four categories – 16 in culture and heritage destinations, 11 in spiritual destinations, 10 in ecotourism and Amrit Dharohar, and 5 in Vibrant Village.
DEKHO APNA DESH PEOPLE’S CHOICE 2024

The nationwide poll aims to engage with citizens to identify the most preferred tourist attractions and understand tourist perceptions across 5 tourism categories – spiritual, cultural and heritage, nature and wildlife, adventure, and one another category.
Besides the four main categories, the other category is where one could vote for their personal favourites and help uncover hidden tourism gems in the form of unexplored tourism attractions and destinations like Vibrant Border Villages, Wellness Tourism, and Wedding Tourism.
This poll exercise is being hosted on the MyGov platform, the citizen engagement portal of the Government of India.
Chalo India Global Diaspora Campaign
PM Modi also launched the ‘Chalo India Global Diaspora Campaign’ to inspire the Indian diaspora to become Incredible India ambassadors and promote tourism to India.
The campaign is being launched based on the clarion call of the PM, wherein he requested Indian diaspora members to encourage at least five non-Indian friends to travel to India.
With more than 3 crore overseas Indians, the Indian diaspora could serve as a powerful catalyst for Indian tourism, acting as cultural ambassadors.
J&K deeply connected with Lotus
Prime Minister Narendra Modi made a symbolic connection between the lotus, the symbol of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), and the state of Jammu and Kashmir.
The PM said that J&K has the potential to become a global success story with the lotus serving as a common motif.
He speculated whether the association of the lotus with J&K was a mere coincidence or a sign of a deeper connection.
“The success story of J&K will be the centre of attraction for the world. We see lotus everywhere in the lakes here. The logo of the J&K Cricket Association formed 50 years ago, also has a lotus. Is it a coincidence or a sign of nature that the BJP’s symbol is also a lotus and J&K has a deep connection with the lotus,” PM Modi said.
Most probably, Modi’s remarks come in the context of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, where the BJP hopes to consolidate its position in J&K. The party has made significant inroads in the region in recent years, winning seats in the state assembly and local bodies.
The lotus has been the symbol of the BJP since the party’s inception, representing purity and beauty emerging from murky waters.
The party has often used the lotus as a metaphor for its vision of transforming society and politics.
J&K has been a focal point of the BJP’s political strategy, especially since the abrogation of Article 370 in August 2019, which stripped the erstwhile state of its special status.
The party has aimed to integrate J&K more closely with the rest of the country and bring about development and prosperity in the union territory.
The PM’s symbolic connection between the lotus and J&K reflects the BJP’s aspirations for the union territory.
As the election season heats up, it remains to be seen whether the lotus will indeed bloom in J&K, both symbolically and politically.
Congress, its allies misled people on Article 370
Prime Minister Narendra Modi said Congress and its allies misled the people of Jammu and Kashmir in the name of Article 370.
“For decades, the Congress and its allies misled the people of J&K and the country for political gains in the name of Article 370. The people of J&K are now aware of the truth about whether J&K benefited from Article 370 or only a few families took advantage of it. The talent of J&K is getting its due respect today as there is no Article 370 now,” the PM said.
The Centre-led by PM Modi abrogated the provisions of Article 370 on August 5, 2019, and bifurcated the erstwhile state into the union territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.
The PM did not name any regional political party and said that politics and corruption had gone hand in hand in J&K for a very long time.
Praising the huge crowd that had gathered to listen to him, he said, “I am elated and indebted for the love given to me in Kashmir.”
He said that he would return the debt of this love and leave no stone unturned in this direction.
At the occasion thousands of people from across Jammu and Kashmir gathered at Bakshi Stadium and attended Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s rally, chanting his name and wearing Modi masks.
This marked PM Modi’s first visit to Kashmir since the abrogation of Article 370.
During the event, Modi unveiled development projects and participated in the ‘Viksit Bharat, Viksit Jammu Kashmir’ programme.
Security was tight, with officials managing the large crowd of supporters and ensuring normalcy as shops and businesses remained open across Kashmir.
Traffic diversions were in place around the venue, including restrictions on several routes to accommodate the VVIP visit. However, medical emergencies were assured access through the shortest possible routes.
PM Modi was received at Srinagar International Airport by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and senior BJP leaders before he laid a wreath at the War Memorial at Badami Bagh Cantonment, the headquarters of the Army’s 15 Corps.
The security apparatus was heightened along PM Modi’s route to Bakshi Stadium, with stringent measures in place to prevent any untoward incidents.
Surveillance drones, CCTV cameras, and increased foot patrols were deployed while marine commandos were stationed in water bodies to prevent subversive activities.
Officials here said tight security arrangements were in place but there were no restrictions on the movement of people. Life was normal across Kashmir and most shops and other business establishments were open here, the officials said.
They said there were no restrictions on the movement of the people in any part of Kashmir, except for traffic diversions around the venue of the PM’s rally.
During this visit, PM Modi focused on development, launching projects worth over Rs 6400 crore.
People from various regions of Kashmir had travelled to Bakshi Stadium in Srinagar to attend the PM’s speech. Tariq Ahmad Khan, 40, from Srinagar downtown highlighted the positive changes in Srinagar downtown since 2019 saying that with increased peace, youth had gotten engaged in education rather than conflict.
Many people were seen wearing tricolour turbans and waving BJP flags, showcasing their support and enthusiasm for the PM’s visit to Srinagar. The vibrant display of colours and flags added to the festive atmosphere at the Bakshi Stadium.
Abdul Gaffar Sheikh, 66, a farmer from Shopian praised the government’s development efforts especially schemes aimed at improving farmers’ lives.
Sheikh highlighted the positive impact these initiatives had on the agricultural sector, bringing tangible benefits to farmers like him. Many people walked over 5 km to reach Bakshi Stadium in Srinagar. Zahoor Ahmad from Kulgam said he left home at 3 am to reach Srinagar.
“I didn’t know how I would get here as most people were asleep. I didn’t have any transportation. I walked around 4-6 km and then a group of people in a load carrier heading towards the rally gave me a lift, and I reached Srinagar on time,” he said.
Ahmad is worried about the problems faced by daily wage workers.
He expressed hope that PM Modi would help solve those issues.
“If the PM helps us, he will gain the support of all Kashmiri daily wagers in the upcoming elections,” Ahmad said.
Muhammad Maqbool Mir from Ganderbal said, “I faced many challenges getting to the stadium because some roads were closed for security reasons. However, I understood that these measures were for everyone’s safety. Security personnel helped and guided us to alternative routes to reach the stadium.”
PM building ‘Khushaal J&K’, says Lieutenant Governor
Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was building a khushaal Jammu and Kashmir.
Speaking to a huge rally at Bakshi Stadium in Srinagar, the LG said, “The PM is building a khushaal J&K, providing a new momentum to infrastructure development to shape J&K’s economic trajectory and has linked the aspirations of J&K with the aspirations of the country.”
He said that today, the crown jewel of the country was shining with new glory.
“The PM has ensured that fruits of development reach all sections of society and opportunities of growth, justice, and dignity are equally available to all the citizens,” LG Sinha said.
He thanked the PM for dedicating the Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP) project for ‘Integrated Development of Hazratbal Shrine’ and blessing the new government recruits by distributing the appointment orders.
“Rapid and inclusive development of J&K has been the top priority of PM since 2014. He has dedicated every moment to restoring the rights of people who have been living on the margins for decades and ushered a new era of peace, prosperity, and hope,” the LG said.
He said that the PM had put women’s power at the forefront of J&K’s development journey.
“The rights of women have been restored and new entrepreneur schemes are making them financially independent and providing Nari Shakti a life of dignity,” LG Sinha said. “Every citizen of J&K has got the opportunity to live life as per their wish. Youth are being provided with opportunities to harness their full potential and they are driving socio-economic development.”
He said that the dreams of every citizen of J&K had got new wings and their wings had got an infinite sky of opportunities.
“Bakshi stadium has a capacity of 35,000 and besides this around 25,000 chairs have been put up here. The way people of Kashmir have come here to attend PM Modi’s programme, this stadium is full. I want to apologise to the people who are not able to get a place to sit. If there would have been a ground of 2 lakh capacity, even that ground would be overflowing with the people of Kashmir. This is the kind of love the people of Kashmir have for PM Modi,” the LG said.
He said that under the leadership of the PM, there was a new dynamism in infrastructure development.
“Z-Morh tunnel worth more than Rs 2378 crore will be completed by June this year. Work on the Zojila tunnel project worth Rs 4500 crore is going on which will provide round-the-year connectivity to Sonamarg,” LG Sinha said.
A selfie with PM
After getting the praise of Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his speech at the Bakshi Stadium in Srinagar, a young entrepreneur from south Kashmir’s Pulwama district, Nazim Nazeer snapped a selfie with the PM.
During the rally, PM Modi mentioned the entrepreneurial journey of Nazeer, whom he referred to as his friend.
Later, the PM shared his selfie with Nazeer on social media and praised him for his achievements and wished him success in his future endeavours.
“A memorable selfie with my friend Nazim. I was impressed by the good work he’s doing. At the public meeting, he requested a selfie and was happy to meet him. My best wishes for his future endeavours,” the PM posted on X along with the selfie.
PM Modi commended Nazeer for leading a “sweet revolution” in Kashmir and recognised the agricultural impact of beekeeping, stating that bees also help in farming.
He praised Nazeer for choosing a different path from the traditional career options of doctor or engineer and encouraged him to continue his entrepreneurial journey.
Nazeer thanked the administration for organising the event and selecting him for an interaction with the PM.
He suggested aspiring entrepreneurs start small and work hard, emphasising that there were no shortcuts to success.
Reflecting on his interaction with PM Modi, Nazeer described the moment when he requested a selfie with the PM as joyful.
He thanked the PM for his willingness to take a selfie, describing it as a memorable moment.
As the interaction at the event went on, PM Modi asked him what he wanted to become when he was young.
Nazeer said his parents wanted him to become either a doctor or an engineer, but he wanted to do something else.
“Your family recognised your potential. You could have become a doctor but you didn’t take that route. And by doing that, you led Kashmir’s sweet revolution. Many, many congratulations,” the PM said. “This is a completely new sector because bees help in farming also. So your work helps other farmers.”
