DG WCD reviews implementation of ICDS schemes in districts

The Director General, Women & Child Development, J&K, Mir Tariq Ali has started an extensive touring of different ICDS Projects and Anganwadi Centers of the districts of J&K to ensure proper implementation of different schemes being implemented by ICDS department like Providing of Supplementary Nutrition, Implementation of POSHAN Abhiyaan, Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY), Aadhaar, Scheme for Adolescent Girls (SAG ) and other allied schemes and to gather the first hand knowledge about the implementation on ground through the Platform of Anganwadis. During the DG enquired about the availability /distribution of various supplementary nutrition items to the eligible beneficiaries viz; Children (aged 6 months to 6 years), Pregnant & lactating mothers, Adolescent girls and directed that nutrition items are delivered at doorsteps of beneficiaries by Anganwadi Workers/Helpers during lockdown period.

Regarding the Aadhaar enrollment drive, it was ensured that the process of generation of Adhaar cards for children below 5 years and citizens does not hamper and to ensure that maximum people will take benefit under the drive.

Under POSHAN Abhiyaan, it was ensured that Community Based Events and Village Health Sanitation Nutrition Days are conducted at Anganwadi Centres following due protocols of COVID -19 like Social distancing etc. Further it was ensured various IEC activities are conducted during the ongoing POSHAN Maah as per the themes of MWCD, GoI.

Under PMMVY, it was ensured that all the left out cases are covered in a time bound manner so as to achieve the targets set by MWCD, GoI well in time .

Under SAG, it was ensured that all the out of school adolescent girls are properly guided and counselled so that they can join the schools again. Various income generating courses in collaboration with line departments shall be conducted for the girls who are not able to join the schools for one or the other reasons.

The districts visited by Director General in Kashmir division from 24.8.2020 so for are Anantnag, Srinagar, Ganderbal, Budgam, Baramulla and Pulwama.
