The cloudburst that hit the lower Amarnath cave shrine on July 08, killing at least 16 pilgrims and injuring dozens, was one of the biggest tragedies and highly unfortunate incident, however, at the same time, this incident showed the face of real Kashmiriyat to the world, as Kashmiri Muslims, who were supposed to celebrate Eid on July 10, ensured that relief and rescue operation is not hampered and stayed put at the incident site until all rescue operations were completed.

Instead of celebrating Eid with the families back home, Kashmiri Muslims, who were engaged with Amarnath Yatra, decided to stay put near the incident site, where cloudburst had hit, to help and support the administration, army, police and other agencies engaged in the rescue operation. This gave a positive message and many people including the pilgrims appreciated this gesture shown by the Muslims and this is the ethos of Kashmiriyat for which Kashmir is known for.

Kashmiri Muslims proved that they equally share the grief, caused by the cloudburst, with those who suffered and lost their loved ones in the incident. They ensured that all possible help reaches the victims and those who were injured in the incident.

Administration also played a vital role and ensured early evacuation of the injured from the incident site despite inclement weather. The rescue operations were personally monitored by PMO and HMO and LG Manoj Sinha himself present on the ground to monitor the situation and also met the pilgrims to assure them about safety and security measures being taken by the admin. LG led administration in synergy with other agencies also ensured that Yatra was resumed as soon as possible and within three days the agencies involved in the rescue mission restored the Yatra route and Amarnath pilgrimage was resumed in the shortest possible time.

All in all everyone stayed on their toes and worked with joint strategy to ensure rescue operations are completed successfully and all the injured are evacuated to nearest health facilities well in time and Yatra is also resumed as soon as possible.
